Glasses as a Fashion Accessory

The site for information about reading glasses.

While some people regard glasses as unattractive, other's treat them as a fashionable accessory to their wardrobe.

Many people regard wearing glasses as unattractive. For these individuals they normally choose to wear contact lenses. Contact lenses have been proven to provide improved peripheral vision, and some studies have shown that contact lenses also slow the degeneration of the wearer's vision.

On the other hand, there are several individuals who regard wearing glasses as stylish and for these people glasses are available in a variety of styles, materials, and designer labels.

For some celebrities their glasses are a part of their trademark. Think about it, Buddy Holly with out his horn-rims, or Elton John and Dame Edna Everage without their extravagance, for these stars and many more, their glasses were part of their identity. Even in our pop culture, glasses have become trademarks as the disguises of Superman, Spider-Man, and Wonder Woman.

For years, people who wear glasses have been stereotype as intelligent or, geeks. It is believed that this misconception came about from when most people were illiterate, and individually who could afford glasses were educated men who did a lot of reading.  To avoid these stereotypes, many people turn to contact lenses.

Inconvenience is another unpopular aspect of glasses. Even with frames made from light material such as titanium, or frames that are very flexible, and new lens materials and coatings that resist scratching or breaking, glasses can still create problems for those individual who participate in rigorous sports. The lenses themselves become greasy, fog up, or trap vapor when eating hot food, or during sports, or walking in rain, which reduces visibility. When the lenses become scratched, fracture or even shatter, they require time-consuming and expensive professional repairs.
